August at Pressley Vineyards: Finding the Rhythm of Harvest

August 4, 2026

If July is all about anticipation, August is about finding our rhythm.

Harvest is officially in full swing here at Pressley Vineyards. With our early-ripening varieties, we’ve traded planning and preparation for early mornings, long days processing fruit, plenty of coordination, and countless hours spent in both the vineyard and the winery.

One of the questions we’re asked most often is, “How do you know when it’s time to pick?” While Brix, pH, and acidity all play an important role, there’s no single number that tells us it’s time. We spend just as much time tasting fruit as we do looking at lab results. Every vineyard block ripens at its own pace, and every picking decision is made with one goal in mind: capturing the best expression of that fruit.

Harvest also requires a great deal of flexibility. A carefully planned day can change in an instant depending on the weather, how quickly the fruit is progressing, or when a vineyard block reaches its peak.

As always, thank you for following along and supporting our business. Here’s to a safe, successful harvest—we can’t wait to share the 2026 vintage with you.
